Campout! Carolina is an annual statewide event encouraging individuals, families, friends, scout troops and community groups of all kinds to show support for North Carolina’s environment by camping out the weekend of October 9th. Last year, over 2,000 people from across the state participated in celebrating North Carolina's environment. Pitch a tent in your backyard or favorite North Carolina campsite, turn off or unplug non-essential electrical items, and enjoy an evening outdoors with family and friends. Check out the Find A Campsite page for ideas. By taking part in Campout! Carolina, you will help us demonstrate the support of NC residents for a healthy NC. EarthShare North Carolina (ESNC) is a coalition of 63 non-profit organizations working locally, throughout North Carolina, nationally, and internationally to preserve and protect our environment. While ESNC organizations are leading the way to clean up our air and water, protect wildlife and their habitats, and ensure we have natural places to visit and enjoy, it takes everyone’s support to be successful at restoring and maintaining a healthy NC for your generation and creating a natural legacy for generations to come. 1) Click on Be Counted to register 2) Register early for a chance to Win a Tent or Concert Tickets! Your local REI is making it easy for campers to get outside on October 9-11 by offering free rental of camping gear including tents, sleeping bags and backpacks on a first-come, first-served basis.
